Our Teachers & Staff
Jen-Marie Cavaliere
Director
Lead Teacher: 4s/Pre-K Sea Turtles
Jen has over 15 years of experience in the ECE field as a teacher, administrator, and programming/curriculum specialist. She has degrees in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Human Development & Family Sciences (HDFS) and is passionate about creating meaningful learning spaces for students and teaching about Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging (DEIB).
Jen grew up in San Diego, California but always loved the idea of four changing seasons and has happily lived in Alexandria since 2012. She and her wife have a 9-year-old son and the three of them enjoy building LEGO, decorating for different holidays, and playing musical instruments together.
Sarah Hughes
Lead Teacher: 5-Day 3s Honeybees
Sarah spent her undergraduate years at Syracuse University earning a B.A. in Psychology, offering a foundation to her understanding of childhood development - physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and linguistically. However, it has been the seven years of parenting, co-op parent helping, and substitute teaching at FHP which has made it perfectly clear of the value in co-operative growing and learning.

She shares two children with her husband, and is a native to the DC/NOVA area. When she's not teaching she coaches her daughter's soccer team.
Tommy Streat
Teaching Assistant: Sea Turtles & Honeybees
As well as being a Fort Hunt Preschool dad, Tommy is a guitar and music teacher across Northern Virginia. Raised in Richmond, VA., Tommy has been playing guitar for over 20 years. Tommy has developed a love for teaching and helping children, and adults alike, find joy and creativity through music.
Mona Younas
Lead Teacher: 3-Day 3s Butterflies
Mona has her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development (ECD) at Northern Virginia Community College. She is currently a student in the Education department at George Mason University and is studying to be a Kindergarten teacher. Mona loves bringing the most up-to-date research and ECD information from her studies to share with her fellow teachers to provide meaningful experiences for the students at FHP.

When she isn't teaching, Mona enjoys roller skating, painting, crocheting, and taking care of her plants.
Christine Drumgoole
Teaching Assistant: 3s Butterflies
Christine is originally from Jackson Heights, Queens, the most diverse neighborhood in NYC. This plays a large part in her love of community, cultures, traditions and diversity. She has a B.S in History and Italian language from SUNY Buffalo State University. Christine and her family have been living in Alexandria since 2020 and both of her children attend FHP. She loves working with kids and has personally seen what a positive impact a co-op preschool environment has on a growing child.
Adele Coble
Lead Teacher: 2s Foxes
Adele has worked in early education settings since 2017 in various capacities, and even longer in nonprofits (like Fort Hunt Preschool) that serve children, women and underserved populations. Her sons have been students at FHP since 2021 and she has a passion for outdoor education, emergent curriculum, social-emotional learning, and the Parent Cooperative model.

When not at Fort Hunt Preschool, she enjoys books, music, crafts, volunteering, science, and nature.
